Resilient infrastructure needed
Quality and resilient infrastructure development is important for any country as it enhances service delivery.
Pacific Region Infrastructure Facility Technical Assistance Officer Timothy Stats says it is important to ensure infrastructure development align with the standards due to the ever-changing climatic conditions.
Stats says collective opinions and suggestions are needed before finalizing any infra-structural development.
“So we’re talking about infrastructure that’s built for purpose, that’s resilient, and that’s going to serve the purpose it’s intended for over the intended lifespan.”
Fiji Association of Architects Vice President Misha Huggett underscores the significance of addressing concerns that hold importance within the architectural sector.
“How do we make this a holistic view in terms of not just creating investment opportunities and bringing in overseas consultants and contractors? We need a voice locally on what we can do here in Fiji to improve our own economy.”
Huggett also emphasizes on the importance of sustainability in this field.
PRIF, established in 2008, serves as a multi-partner coordination and technical assistance facility, dedicated to assisting Pacific member countries in enhancing the quality and coverage of infrastructure and service delivery.
